The popular grocery chain said the decision to close this location does not affect any other stores in North Texas.
PLANO, Texas — Another Tom Thumb store in Collin County is set to close this summer, the store’s parent company confirmed Wednesday.
The location at 2200 E. 14th St. in Plano is expected to hold its final day of sales on July 26, according to Albertsons Companies Southern Division.
This is the second Tom Thumb store scheduled to close in the county this summer. The Allen location, in the 900 block of West McDermott Drive, is expected to close on or before July 5.
“In such a competitive environment, our company must sometimes make the tough decision to close an underperforming store so that we can reinvest in our remaining stores in the marketplace,” the grocery chain said in a statement. “The company is working to place all associates in nearby locations and remains committed to the North Texas market where significant investments continue including store remodels and new store openings.”
Tom Thumb added that its parent company opened three new Tom Thumb locations to the region in 2024 and broke ground on three additional ones scheduled to open in 2025 and 2026.
The popular grocery chain said this decision to close the Plano location does not affect any other stores in North Texas.
