Concerned neighbors have chronicled numerous crashes and other issues at Tidwell & Sasson in recent years.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Residents of Tidwell Lakes contacted KHOU 11 after seeing us help get solutions to traffic problems in other areas.
They’re anxious for improvements at Tidwell Road and Sasson/Sierra Ranch not far from the Beltway.
It’s the primary entry and exit point for not one, but two subdivisions and is often a confusing free for all as we saw for ourselves.
“It is a very dangerous intersection,” said Tidwell Lakes homeowner Telma Hernandez.
She was struck last year while attempting to exit the neighborhood and shared photos of what her SUV and the other car looked like after the crash.
“He made a last minute turn and just hit my fender,” said Hernandez. “Good thing it was a smaller car, it didn’t do too much damage.”
But neighbors have chronicled other crashes in their community Facebook group and have shared warnings and even photos of previous incidents.
“Close calls but I haven’t been involved in one,” said resident Glenn Raglon.
We randomly met Raglon as he checked his mail and, like his neighbors, he’s also concerned about the intersection.
“What I would like to see if more visibility of our law enforcement and some type of solution with a flashing stop sign or something like that,” said Raglon. “Or signs “slow down.”
Hernandez showed us where she’s contacted TxDOT at least twice..
However, it appears any changes would be up to Harris County.
According to neighbors, a traffic signal was added to a nearby intersection near a school following numerous complaints.
“I would like to see, I would prefer a light,” said Hernandez.
We’re told an alternate access point is planned for Hernandez’s neighborhood which should also help alleviate potential problems.
Meanwhile, we reached out to law enforcement to try and get crash statistics.
That’s something we’re still waiting on.
Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis’s office told us they would look into issues at the intersection.
