Yes, you read that correctly. Corndog eating contest. What could be more American than that? Foodies are set this weekend with all of the patriotic favorites on the menu. From restaurants featuring barbecue, to apple pie, it couldn’t feel more right.
Music lovers are in for a treat with big names like Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson coming to Dallas. Don’t miss the opportunity to see them live, or to find a new favorite band at one of the day parties and markets open this weekend.

Brass Knuckle Corndog Beatdown (Dallas)
It’s impossible to choose between the stellar lineup of Fourth of July events taking place this year, but a corn dog eating contest… it just feels American. Libertine Bar will be hosting their 14th annual corn dog eating contest at 5 p.m. on July 4th. The Brass Knuckles Corndog Beatdown is a 15 minute competition anyone can participate in. Contestants will be fighting to win the coveted Brass Knuckles trophy and a $100 gift card. All participants must confirm their registration in person or through their website by 5 p.m. of competition day. Last year’s winner ate just 11, so you can do this!

Red, White, and Blues Music Fest (McKinney)
The day after the 4th of July has been referred to as a serotonin slump in the past. Little did they know July 5th is a Saturday this year! Tupps’ Red, White, and Blues Fest is sure to keep you in high spirits following a firework filled Friday. The second annual music fest features artists like Jimmy Wallace and the Stratoblasters along with some surprises. Make sure to check their website before heading over at 5 p.m. to eat, relax, and listen to some tunes. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket of your own to take full advantage of the lawn.

To close out the weekend the Lone Star Bayou Events are throwing a shindig that feels purely Texan. The Ground Line Dance Food Festival is an all day event from 12-7 p.m. featuring music and food that embrace the Texas American spirit. The event promises to be a day full of toe-tappin’, mouth-waterin’ food, and plenty of line dancin’. The event charges $30 at the door, but only $28.50 on their website. So grab your tickets, throw on a pair of boots, and end the weekend with a bang.
