Texas teen named top musical theatre actress in America at 2025 Jimmy Awards

Fabiola Caraballo Quijada, who graduated from Tyler Legacy High School last month, was announced as the best actress for this year’s ceremony of the Jimmy Awards.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — An East Texas teen was named the best high school musical theatre actress in the country at the 2025 Jimmy Awards Monday night in New York City.

Fabiola Caraballo Quijada, who graduated from Tyler Legacy High School last month, was announced as the best actress for this year’s ceremony of the Jimmy Awards.

She represented one of the 51 regional awards programs, Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theatre Awards. And this year, not only did she make it to the finals, she came out on top as the best actress alongside best actor Chris Hayes from Nevada. 

For her song as a finalist, Caraballo Quijada performed “Astonishing” from “Little Women” in addition to a medley of Broadway songs with her fellow performers.

Through her win, she will receive $25,000 in scholarship money.

Last year, she was among the finalists at the national ceremony, receiving a hefty amount of scholarship money back then as well. She also qualified in 2023 for performance as Motormouth Maybelle in “Hairspray.”
