Other items include an “extremely rare” baseball autographed by Shoeless Joe Jackson, a Michael Jordan “holy grail” card and an autographed Jordan 1997 die-cut card.
NEW YORK — An auction of sports memorabilia currently underway features highly sought-after collector’s items from legends, including George Foreman, Michael Jordan and Shohei Ohtani.
Foreman, a native of Houston’s Fifth Ward, died in March at the age of 76. Lelands 2025 Summer Classic Auction features the 1970s passport used by the legendary boxer from famous fights, including the “Rumble in the Jungle” match with Muhammad Ali in Zaire, now called the Democratic Republic of Congo. The current bid on Wednesday afternoon was $3,661.
You’ll need to dig deeper in your wallet if you want Shohei Ohtani’s 300th career home run ball. The Los Angeles Dodger launched the ball into the left field stands at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on June 24, 2025. The current bid as of Wednesday afternoon was $25,000.
Bidding for an “extremely rare” 1914 autographed baseball signed by “Shoeless Joe” Jackson surpassed $27,500 by Wednesday. Jackson was part of the notorious 1919 Chicago “Black Sox scandal” when members of the White Sox were accused of fixing the World Series. MLB lifted Jackson’s lifetime ban from the Hall of Fame earlier this year.
Baseball fans with a tighter budget may be interested in autographed underwear worn by Hall of Fame Center fielder Willie Mays. The high bid for these undies was just over $300.
A 1997 SPx die-cut card autographed by NBA legend Michael Jordan had a starting bid of $15,000, but it’s going to bring over $50,000. Described as one of the rarest and most sought-after ’90s Jordan insert cards, it is number 58 out of only 100 that were produced.
A few non-sports treasures are also in the Lelands Auction, which includes over 1,800 items.

- A 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair metal sign made by Ken Van Logan
- Bob Dylan handwritten lyrics with Traveling Wilburys set list on reverse (PSA and JSA)
