Officials uncovered remains of Noel earlier this week from the home where the 6-year-old had lived.
EVERMAN, Texas — Days after his remains were found at his Everman home, a temporary memorial has been set up for the community to honor the memory of 6-year-old Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez.
The memorial is at Everman Memorial park, 501 N. Race St., the city announced in a Facebook post. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will stay there until Noel has been buried.
Residents are invited to bring items like flowers, cards, balloons and small trinkets. Electronic candles are also allowed, but not open flames.
The city said Noel’s favorite color was light blue, visitors are encouraged to honor him by using the color in their tributes. Everman’s city facilities will also be illuminated in light blue starting Saturday evening.
“This memorial is more than a place. It is a reminder that Noel mattered, that his life will not be forgotten, and that our community continues to grieve together,” the city wrote.
Noel was reported missing in March 2023, months after he was last seen alive in October 2022. At the time of his disappearance, investigators were falsely told that Noel was living with his biological father in Mexico, officials said.
Noel was born with developmental and physical disabilities. Authorities have long believed that Noel was dead, but his body has never been recovered until now, the Tarrant County District Attorney said in a news release. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner used dental records to positively identify Noel.
Noel’s mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, was indicted on a capital murder charge in connection with the disappearance of her son last September. But she was found incompetent to stand trial last month.
