A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot at a home in northeast Harris County early Friday morning.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed early Friday morning at a home in northeast Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The shooting happened just after midnight at a residence on Gianna Springs Court near Atascocita Road.
Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Precinct 4 responded to the scene and found the teen with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the location.
Gonzalez said the teen’s siblings were also inside the home at the time of the shooting. Investigators later confirmed that two other children were present. Authorities have not said whether those children were involved.
Multiple firearms were recovered from the scene, but investigators have not yet determined which one was fired.
“We have multiple firearms, but again we don’t know which one was the one that was fired,” a deputy said. “We’re still waiting on crime scene and obviously the medical examiner to arrive so we can go through those weapons.”
Deputies and crime scene investigators remained at the scene Friday morning, collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses.
At this time, it’s still unclear what led to the shooting — whether it was targeted, accidental, or self-inflicted.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
