Taylor man sentenced to 50 years for meth possession, DA's office says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A jury found a 59-year-old Taylor man guilty last week and sentenced him to 50 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine, according to the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office.

Dean Anthony Mojica was arrested in July 2023, stemming from an investigation conducted by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Mojica has an “extensive” criminal history, which includes “multiple felony convictions” of delivery of controlled substances, as well as driving while intoxicated, according to the DA’s office.

Officials with the WCSO were able to get a search warrant for Mojica’s residence, in which deputies found “10.89 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and small Ziplock bags, all indicative of narcotics distribution,” per a news release from DA Shawn Dick’s office.

Additionally, he had “two firearms and stolen property” in his possession. He was on parole at the time of his arrest, in which the DA’s office said “prohibited him from possessing firearms.”

During the trial, evidence presented against Mojica revealed he “engaged in trading stolen property as part of his drug dealings and even offered methamphetamine in exchange for sexual favors. The jury learned in the punishment phase of the trial that Mojica had also committed family violence in connection with his use of narcotics.”
