The sheriff said the victims range in age from 19 to early 30s.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead and two others hurt in a shooting outside a nightclub in north Harris County early Sunday morning, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Stampede nightclub, located along the Eastex Freeway near Winfield Road.
The sheriff said a group of men approached another group in the parking lot and opened fire, hitting two men and a woman.
Two of the victims were taken to a hospital by ambulance and the third was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
One of the men, believed to be 25 years old, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Gonzalez said one of the other victims was in serious condition and was taken into surgery. The other was expected to be OK. He said the woman is believed to be 19 years old and the other man is believed to be in his early 30s.
The sheriff said the suspects took off after the shooting. He did not provide a description of the suspects, but said there were a lot of people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting as the club was getting ready to close.
Gonzalez said there was an altercation in the club before the shooting, but investigators aren’t sure whether it was connected to the shooting.
