The Texas Education Agency reports slight improvements in STEM subjects in the 2025 STAAR EOC results, but declines in language arts and history.
HOUSTON — The Texas Education Agency has released the Spring 2025 STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) assessment results, offering an updated look at how high school students across Texas are performing in five core subjects: Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History.
These high school-level exams are designed to measure whether students have mastered the essential knowledge and skills they need to progress toward graduation and postsecondary readiness.
Key takeaways from the Spring 2025 STAAR EOC results
This year’s statewide results showed modest year-over-year changes, with some improvement in STEM subjects and slight declines in language arts and history:
- Algebra I: 47% of students met grade level (up from 45% in 2024)
- Biology: 62% of students met grade level (up from 57% in 2024)
- English I: 51% of students met grade level (down from 54%)
- English II: 56% of students met grade level (down from 60%)
- U.S. History: 68% of students met grade level (down one point from 2024)
The TEA also highlighted gains among specific student groups in biology, including economically disadvantaged students, students receiving special education services, and emergent bilingual students.
“Texas students and educators continue to work hard to demonstrate academic excellence,” Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath said. “At the same time, we also recognize that too many students are still not where they need to be academically. Using a reliable system of assessments, we can continue making progress on the strategies that are most effective in improving student learning and long-term success.”

How to look up STAAR results by school or district
Parents and families can now access individual STAAR EOC scores in one of two ways:
- Visit your school district’s family portal
- Go to TexasAssessment.gov and enter the unique access code provided by your child’s school
This allows families to see where their student is excelling and where they might need extra support.
If you’re looking to see aggregate performance data for your school, district, region, or the state overall, you can access the full dataset through the Texas Assessment Research Portal, which provides downloadable performance summaries by campus.
What’s next: STAAR Grades 3–8 coming soon
The TEA announced that results for STAAR Grades 3–8 assessments will be released on Tuesday, June 17. On that date, parents will be able to log in using their child’s access code or the district portal to view those scores.
