Several injured after fight at Texas Roadhouse caught on camera

When police got to the restaurant, they found several victims who were injured as a result of a fight inside.

AVON, Ind. — Avon police are investigating a brawl that left several people injured inside of a Texas Roadhouse over the weekend.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, June 7, Avon Police Department officers and Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a “large physical altercation involving multiple individuals” at the restaurant.

13News reached out to Avon PD, who confirmed the incident took place at the Texas Roadhouse, near U.S. 36 and Ronald Reagan Parkway.

When they got to the restaurant, police found several victims who were injured in the fight, as well as several witnesses.

“It was just insane. I don’t even know how long it lasted, but it felt like forever,” said Amanda Polley, who was inside the restaurant.

Polley hid her daughter underneath the table and protected her other two children in a booth as her husband protected their table from the brawl.

“There was a guy yelling at a girl. All we saw was a drink fly and punches started. Then what they had said was that there were two graduation parties there. They were sitting across from each other. That whole back area was filled with just two families,” Polley said.

Police said the “primary aggressors” involved in the fight had fled the scene before officers got there.

Erniesha Collins shared video with 13News that she took during the fight.

In the video, you can see plates being smashed, glass and silverware being thrown and even a young woman who appears to be bleeding. Polley said the entire incident left her feeling helpless.

“Being in that situation, that was my first thought. ‘Please God, don’t let anyone have a weapon right here,'” Polley said.

Once the police arrived and things were clear she said her kids left the restaurant hungry and traumatized.

“They were just so scared. All they wanted to do was go home. They were shaking and they were crying,” Polley said

In all, Avon police said several people were injured in the fight. Polley and her family regularly eat at that Texas Roadhouse and said she hopes this was a one-time thing.

“I would have never ever thought … that’s what I told employees on my way out. You put all of us in danger sitting two large groups together that took over that whole section of the restaurant,” Polley said.

A spokesperson with Texas Roadhouse shared the following statement with 13News reporter Logan Gay Monday afternoon:

“Texas Roadhouse takes the safety of our guests and staff very seriously. Our security team is aware of the incident which occurred on Saturday, June 7 at our Avon, IN location and is supporting all investigations and requests from local law enforcement. We would like to thank the Henricks County Sheriff’s Office and the Avon Police Department for their quick response on Saturday and their continued partnership. We do plan to have additional police presence and security as we continue to review this incident in Avon.”

“It was just insane all of those people around got put in the middle of it because of two families choosing to fight,” said Polley.

Avon police are investigating the incident and is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspects who fled the scene. If you have any information on the fight, you’re asked to call 317-272-4486 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

The department released a statement regarding the incident later in the day:

“Incidents of this magnitude are certainly not a regular occurrence in our community. While we cannot release certain information at this time, we can confirm that no victims were stabbed, nor were there any firearms discharged.

We are proud of the swift and effective response of officers and medical professionals who responded to the scene, and we look forward to updating the public on this matter when additional information is available for release.”
