SEC reveals matchups for Texas men's hoops, Horns to host defending national champs

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Southeastern Conference sees the value in traditional rivalries on the hardwood.

The conference released opponents and sites for the Texas Longhorns men’s basketball team Wednesday, and they’ll play a home-and-home series with both Texas A&M and Oklahoma in the regular season. Georgia is the other team Texas will face twice in the 2025-26 season.

The SEC sets two permanent opponents that teams play twice, and rotates a third, so the Bulldogs are the rotating opponent this season, with the Aggies and Sooners always facing the Longhorns twice during the regular season.

Specific dates, tip-off times and television information for the games will be announced later, but folks in Austin can plan on seeing some big-time SEC matchups at Moody Center in Sean Miller’s first year as head coach. Along with the Aggies and Sooners, the defending national champion Florida Gators will come to town. Ole Miss, led by former Longhorns head coach Chris Beard, is also scheduled to play at Moody Center this season.

Other home games include Louisiana State, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. The Longhorns’ road schedule looks formidable, traveling to Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee in addition to away matchups against the Aggies, Sooners and Bulldogs.

SEC play begins Jan. 3, 2026, and ends March 7 with an 18-game schedule. The SEC tournament is set for March 11-15 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
