Sam’s Club plans new store at Katy development

Sam’s Club plans to build a new store and gas station in Katy with construction starting in August.

KATY, Texas — It appears a Sam’s Club is coming to NewQuest Properties’ newest mixed-use development underway in the Katy area.

The wholesaler has filed a 167,990-square-foot construction project, identified as Sam’s Club #4913, at 29153 Katy Freeway, with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The store and an adjacent gas station have an estimated combined development cost of $4.66 million and are expected to start construction in August and wrap up in late July 2026. Overland Park, Kansas-based BRR Architecture is listed as the design firm for the project. Details in TDLR filings are preliminary and often subject to change.

A spokesperson for Sam’s Club parent company, Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT), said it was too early to comment and provided a generic statement saying Sam’s Club is always seeking out strategic opportunities to expand its footprint.
