Roadrunners claims to be the fastest drive-thru in the world and they’re willing to prove it with every single customer.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A new drive-thru coffee shop in Cypress is brewing up a lot of buzz. It claims to be the fastest drive-thru in the world!
When you pull up to Roadrunners, it’s game on. The drive-thru coffee shop challenges itself with every single customer.
“Fast or free, baby,” said founder and CEO Jonathan Kay.
Their pledge is on the sign out front and is brewed into their culture.
“We’re going to put our money where our mouth is on speed,” said Kay. “What it means it 1, 2 or 3 drinks, by the time you finish your order, we’ll have it to you in 60 seconds. If not, we comp your drink, it’s free.”
If it’s four to six drinks, they guarantee it in 90 seconds.
“We’re definitely the world’s fastest drive-thru,” said Kay. “We have aspirations to set the world record.”
Sand timers are a big part of the experience. All eyes are on the dust. If the time runs out before your drink is out, you walk away with a free drink, but folks say it doesn’t happen that often.
“About twice a week, and it’s usually a milkshake,” said Kay.
That’s only about .5 percent of the time.
The menu features everything from iced lattes to matcha or milkshakes. Kay said speed can never compromise quality.
“Your product has to be great,” said Kay. “You have to have a delicious drink and good service, but we think we hit all 3 heads and also guarantee speed.”
So far, customers are buzzing from both.
“I love the concept,” said one customer.
“I don’t even think the timer got halfway down and they were out with the drink in 15 seconds after I paid, it was crazy,” said another customer.
In just 3 short months, they’ve managed a perfect rating on Google with more than a thousand mostly 5-star reviews.
“It’s a lot of fun, especially if you order lots of drinks and we come out within 10-15 seconds,” said Kay. “The test is really once they try it and they’re shocked how good they taste.”
Just how they manage to crank out up to three drinks in under a minute over and over again from 6 a.m. to midnight is still a mystery to customers. Kay is not spilling any speed state secrets.
Two new locations are already in the works for next year.
