HOUSTON — Rice University will open its 12th residential college — named the Ting Tsung and Wei Fong Chao College — next fall amid unprecedented enrollment growth.
The residence is named in honor of a gift from the Chao family’s foundation, led by Dorothy Chao Jenkins, James Chao and Rice Trustee Emeritus Albert Chao. Rice did not disclose the amount of the gift.
“The Chao family is immensely honored to be part of Rice students’ college experience with the establishment of the new Chao College,” Albert Chao said in an Aug. 19 press release. “We hope it will be an enriching and rewarding experience for Rice students for generations to come.”
