Report: Migrants fighting over clean water at ICE detention facilities south of San Antonio

Migrants held at two privately operated Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention centers south of San Antonio are fighting over clean water and unable to obtain life-saving medical care, according to court testimony collected by advocacy group RAICES, the Associated Press reports. Forty of 90 families advocates RAICES representatives spoke to at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley and the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center in Karnes City expressed concerns about the lack of medical care at the detention sites, according to the AP. Many also said they don’t receive adequate amounts of clean drinking water. The Dilley site is located roughly an hour southwest of San Antonio, while the Karnes City is approximately a hour to the southeast.
