Precinct 4 deputies responded to a call about a deer trapped between iron rails near Will Clayton Parkway in Atascocita.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A small deer was rescued Wednesday morning by deputies with Precinct 4, Constable Mark Herman said on Facebook.

Deputies Guzman and Chavez responded to a report of a deer trapped between iron rails on the Humber River Lane bridge near Will Clayton Parkway.

The frightened animal, weighing only about 40 pounds, was struggling to free itself when they arrived.

The deputies calmed the animal as they carefully helped it get through the fence.

The deer bounded off into the woods unharmed and happy to be free.

“This was about helping a living creature in distress,” Precinct 4 posted. “It’s a reminder that our job is to protect all who call this community home, people and wildlife alike.”
