Police: Two teens killed, 10 injured in Amarillo apartment shooting

Police are investigating a targeted shooting in Amarillo that left two teens dead and 10 injured. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

AMARILLO, Texas — Amarillo police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex that left two teens dead and 10 other people injured early Saturday morning.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers responded around 1:58 a.m. to a report of a shooting at the Westminster Apartments on Coulter Street near Interstate 40.

Investigators say the gathering involved juveniles and young adults and began at another location before moving to the apartment complex. Police said several individuals were asked to leave the original location and later followed attendees to the Coulter address, where they attempted to enter an apartment and opened fire.

Authorities believe multiple weapons were used in the shooting based on shell casings recovered in an alley near the complex. A Glock 9mm handgun was also found on a landing outside an apartment, but investigators said no weapons have been directly linked to the suspects.

Police said the shooting appears to have been targeted, and the two suspects are believed to have an affiliation with the location and were known to at least one person at the gathering.

No arrests have been made and a motive has not been determined.

The Amarillo Police Department is asking residents in the area to check doorbell and surveillance cameras for any unusual activity in the early morning hours and to submit any video that may help the investigation.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and additional details will be released as they become available.
