AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified a man who was hit and killed on Interstate 35 in south Austin on July 4.
APD said a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the 8300 block of South IH 35 Northbound Service Road on Friday, July 4, shortly before 9 a.m.
Police said the pedestrian, identified as Jesus Rodriguez Barragan, 40, was pronounced dead on the scene, and the vehicle involved did not remain on scene.
This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 49th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 53 deaths.
