Police chase ended in crash on Dallas North Tollway, officials say

The suspect crashed in the area of the Dallas North Tollway and Wycliff Avenue, officials say.

DALLAS — A burglary suspect ran over an officer’s foot before fleeing, leading police on a brief chase and crashing in north Dallas Friday, officials say. 

Officers responded to reports of someone trying to break into a vehicle at the busy Preston Road and Royal Lane intersection around 1:30 p.m., according to a press release. When officers tried to approach the suspect to detain him, the suspect ran over an officer’s foot before fleeing, officials say. 

Officers chased the suspect to the area of the Dallas North Tollway and Wycliff Avenue, where the suspect crashed, police say. The southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway were briefly closed at Northwest Highway as police responded to the incident. 

The injured officer was treated at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue, and the suspect was taken to a local hospital, officials say. The suspect wasn’t identified.

No other details about the crash were immediately available.
