Plano, Texas: 6 arrested in mail theft ring, officials say

Plano police arrested six people for mail theft, recovering stolen property and 16 postal arrow keys, officials said.

PLANO, Texas — Plano police arrested six people in connection with a string of mail thefts, recovering stolen property and 16 U.S. Postal Service “arrow keys,” officials said.

On April 7, a suspect entered secured postal areas and stole 16 “arrow keys” which grant access to community mailboxes throughout the city, Plano police said in a social media post. Surveillance video shows the suspects using access codes to move freely through postal facilities, the post reads.

Officials traced a stolen gas card to a black Dodge Journey in Irving and identified the vehicle at a nearby motel, police said. Plano detectives executed a search warrant there May 1, recovering nine “arrow keys” and stolen property. Police also arrested four suspects: Randy Brown, Asia Jackson, Mark Hughes and Glenn Villas.

All four suspects face federal mail theft charges.

Additional mail thefts in Plano led detectives to a gray Prius and a Jeep Cherokee linked to Sanjay Gangar and Bryan Arellano.

On May 28, Plano detectives witnessed Gangar stealing mail from multiple complexes, police said. He was later found in his vehicle, overdosing on fentanyl in a Costco parking lot, officials said. After treatment, he was arrested and taken into custody, the post reads.

Police searched the vehicle and found a stolen arrow key, as well as stolen mail, IDs, fentanyl and a Glock pistol, officials said.

Gangar and Brown were later identified as the suspects seen in the original burglary videos, the post states. Arellano was also arrested for several outstanding felony warrants, officials said.

All of the stolen access keys have since been recovered, police said.
