A group of men used a female friend to lure two teens to an Arlington park with the intention of fighting them. The plan backfired when a teen stabbed two of them.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Five people, including three teenagers and a 24-year-old man, have been arrested after Arlington police say a planned confrontation at a city park turned violent Wednesday night.
Just after 11 p.m., officers responded to Brantley Hinshaw Park in the 2100 block of Overbrook Drive to investigate a disturbance. When officers arrived, they found two teenage boys who said they had come to the park to meet a girl they had been talking to through an app. The teens told officers shortly after arriving, a group of males wearing ski masks approached them.
Police said the teens reported that several of the suspects were armed. The teens attempted to run away, but the suspects chased them.
“One of those teens had a pocketknife, and he did pull that out and start using it to defend himself against these other individuals that were chasing them and that were carrying guns,” Arlington police spokesperson Tim Ciesco said.
Investigators determined the teen stabbed two of the suspects during the encounter.
According to police, the suspects fled the park in multiple vehicles. One of the injured suspects, 17-year-old Giovanni Holloway, was driven by friends to Medical City Arlington. Several other suspects were also at the hospital when officers arrived to investigate.
“We got a call from one of our local hospitals here that somebody had shown up at the hospital with a stab wound. So, officers did respond to the hospital,” Ciesco said.
During the investigation, officers learned Holloway had allegedly gone to the park intending to fight the victims and had used a female friend to lure them there. After being medically cleared, officers arrested Holloway, and he was booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police also arrested 17-year-old Johnathan Antoine, 19-year-old Maverick Holloway, and 17-year-old Jeremiah Martinez. Each was booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Investigators were later notified that 24-year-old Mister Walker had arrived at Arlington Memorial Hospital with a stab wound. Police said Walker gave officers inconsistent accounts of what happened and changed his story multiple times.
During a search of the vehicle Walker arrived in, officers recovered multiple firearms and a ski mask.
Police said Walker also matched the description of an outstanding suspect connected to the park incident. Walker was arrested and will be booked into the Arlington City Jail on the same charges once he is medically cleared.
