PGBT lanes close nightly July 15-17 for repairs

The work involves two separate but overlapping projects, TxDOT construction on IH-35E and NTTA roadway repairs on PGBT.

CARROLLTON, Texas — North Texas drivers who use the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) should prepare for a series of nightly closures from July 15 through July 17, as major construction and maintenance efforts merge together.

The work involves two separate but overlapping projects, TxDOT construction on IH-35E and NTTA roadway repairs on PGBT.

The closures, scheduled between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, will temporarily restrict direct access to southbound IH-35E from PGBT in Carrollton. The move is part of a larger improvement project on IH-35E,  as TxDOT crews complete structural work that cannot be done with vehicles present.

PGBT to southbound IH-35E detours:

  • From eastbound PGBT:
Exit at Sandy Lake Rd., turn right, continue east, then turn right onto the IH-35E frontage road and follow signs to southbound IH-35E.
  • From westbound PGBT:
Exit at Old Denton Rd./Dickerson Pkwy, turn left onto Dickerson Pkwy., continue west, then turn left onto the IH-35E frontage road and follow signs to enter southbound IH-35E.

Staying Ahead of the Traffic

  • Both NTTA and TxDOT advise drivers to allow extra travel time, particularly if traveling overnight or in the early morning hours.
  • Closures may be postponed due to weather.
  • Digital signs and traffic apps will provide live detour guidance. Be sure to update your GPS and check travel alerts before heading out.
