Passenger killed in shooting near METRO Bus on Antoine near Pinemont

METRO Police confirm a man died after being shot by a woman near a northwest Houston bus.

HOUSTON — METRO police confirm a man is dead after a shooting near a METRO bus in northwest Houston on Tuesday morning. 

According to officials, the incident happened around 9:22 a.m. near Antoine and Pinemont, involving METRO Bus #2110, which was operating on Route 85/606.

Preliminary reports from METRO Police state that a male passenger physically assaulted the bus operator while onboard. After the attack, the suspect exited the bus.

A separate individual, described as a female not involved in the initial altercation, reportedly followed the assailant and opened fire, hitting the man outside the bus. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries, METRO police said.

The bus driver sustained minor injuries from the initial assault and has been taken off shift for the remainder of the day.

METRO Police, the Houston Police Department, EMS, and a METRO field supervisor responded to the scene. A joint investigation between METRO Police and HPD is now underway, with officers actively searching for the female suspect who fled the area.

METRO released the following statement:
