Parking lot takeover leads to high-speed chase through north Harris County, HCSO says

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office seized the driver’s Dodge Charger after the chase.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A driver is waking up behind bars after leading deputies on a high-speed chase through north Harris County Thursday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

The chase happened around 10:45 p.m. after deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office broke up a parking lot takeover with more than 100 cars.

The sheriff’s office said deputies attempted to stop a red Dodge Charger doing donuts in the parking lot, but the Charger took off, leading deputies on a chase that reached over 100 mph.

The chase came to an end when the Charger ran out of gas in a fast food restaurant’s parking lot. HCSO said the driver got out of the car and tried to run off, but deputies were able to take him into custody.

No injuries were reported and the driver was taken to the Harris County jail.

The sheriff’s office seized the Charger and said it will be up to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the courts to decide what is done with it.
