Marine veteran Anthony Sanders was fatally shot in a Galleria garage dispute allegedly over comments about his fiancée.
The parents of Anthony Sanders, a Marine veteran and father, are speaking publicly for the first time following their son’s death during a shooting at The Galleria parking garage earlier this month.
Sanders, 30, was fatally shot on June 3 in the Orange Garage at The Galleria. Police believe the dispute may have been triggered by comments made about Sanders’ fiancée. Their 10-month-old son was also in the car at the time of the shooting.
The suspect, 23-year-old Marko Cinan, is charged with murder. His bond was set at $1 million during his initial appearance in Probable Cause Court. Cinan was scheduled to appear in criminal court on Monday, but the hearing was reset.
Sanders’ parents, both retired from the Army, say they plan to attend every court hearing in pursuit of justice for their son.
“We’re here for justice, justice for Anthony and also to stand for what he stood for as a person, and also to bring awareness to what’s going on in today’s society here in Houston. This was uncalled for,” said Frank Sanders, Anthony’s father.
Anthony Sanders was described by his family as being on the right path in life, active in his church, and looking forward to marrying the mother of his young son.
According to HPD, additional arrests in the case are possible. Police say the suspect’s criminal history includes a prior drug charge and an auto burglary.
