Pappas reveals details of YiaYia’s Greek Kitchen on Richmend

The former Yia Yia Mary’s Mediterranean Kitchen concept closed in 2020 amid the pandemic.

HOUSTON — After years of waiting, fans of Pappas Restaurants’ long-shuttered Yia Yia Mary’s Mediterranean Kitchen concept have some good news.

The Houston-based restaurant group will soon revive a version of the concept in a location that is not too far from its previous Galleria-area spot.

Yiayia’s Greek Kitchen, as the new restaurant will be called, is scheduled to begin serving meals at 2410 Richmond Ave. in August, Pappas Restaurants confirmed.

As the Houston Business Journal reported in September, Pappas Restaurants planned to spend around $2.6 million renovating the 11,150-square-foot space at 2410 Richmond and adding a 910-square-foot patio, according to filings submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Both filings listed KSA Architecture as the design firm for the projects.

TDLR filings are preliminary and are often subject to change.

Yia Yia Mary’s was a well-known favorite of the Galleria area, offering a range of home-cooked Greek cuisine and seafood dishes.
