One killed in crash on I-635 near the DNT early Wednesday, officials say

Police on scene say a vehicle struck a person standing outside a disabled vehicle being pulled onto a flatbed tow truck.

DALLAS — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 635 near the Dallas North Tollway early Wednesday morning, officials say. 

According to police, officers responded to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 635 and the southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway just after midnight. 

Police on scene say a vehicle struck a person standing outside a disabled vehicle being pulled onto a flatbed tow truck. 

Police said the driver, Robert Watson, 53, hit the disabled car, partially drove up on the flatbread, hitting the victim in the process. The suspect vehicle then overturned. 

The victim, who was struck, was transported to the hospital, where they later died. Watson was taken into custody on scene and transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. After being treated, Watson was booked into jail, where he is being charged with intoxication manslaughter. 

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
