Herman, off duty, aided an elderly man with head trauma in Oaks of Devonshire until emergency services arrived.
SPRING, Texas — Constable Mark Herman came to the aid of an unconscious elderly man who received head trauma while exercising in the Oaks of Devonshire Community Thursday afternoon. Herman helped to stabilize the man until emergency medical services arrived.
Herman, who was off duty at the time, gave first aid to the injured man by applying direct pressure to slow bleeding from a head wound. The constable was photographed at the scene wearing a grey shirt and black cap while providing assistance.
When Herman’s on-duty deputies arrived, they took over medical care and continued to stabilize the elderly man until an ambulance could transport him to the hospital. The victim was taken to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands in critical but stable condition.
The incident occurred when the elderly male fell while exercising in the residential community. The extent of his injuries beyond the head trauma was not specified.
The constable’s office praised the response, with officials noting the teamwork between the off-duty constable and responding deputies in providing immediate medical assistance to the injured citizen.
