North Texas summer road closures: Where and how long will roads remain closed?

The closures are necessary for repairs, traffic pattern shifts, and bridge maintenance/demolition.

DALLAS — Drivers across the DFW metroplex should prepare for several significant overnight road closures beginning July 1, as maintenance and construction projects continue along major corridors.

The closures are necessary for repairs, traffic pattern shifts, and bridge maintenance/demolition, officials said. Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time, consider alternate routes, and stay alert to signage and crews in work zones.

Here’s a look at the closures to expect:

President George Bush Turnpike ramp closures in Garland

As part of ongoing North Texas Tollway Authority maintenance efforts, the direct-connector ramp from both eastbound and westbound Interstate 30 to northbound President George Bush Turnpike in Garland will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on July 1 through July 2.

Detours:
• From eastbound I-30: Drivers will exit at Zion Road, continue on the I-30 frontage road, then turn left to access northbound PGBT.
• From westbound I-30: Drivers will exit at Bass Pro Drive, proceed through the intersection, and then turn right to enter northbound PGBT.

These closures are necessary to facilitate roadway repair and maintain safety for all those who travel through the area.

US 75 construction and full closure in Collin County

A major long-term construction shift will begin on July 1 with an overnight closure to follow on July 2. Weather permitting, all U.S. Highway 75 southbound lanes between CR-375 and CR-370 near Van Alstyne shift into a new traffic pattern beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, lasting through early fall 2025.

Additionally, all northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 75 will be closed and detoured to the frontage roads at CR-371 from 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, through 5 a.m. Thursday, July 3. Significant delays are expected. Drivers are urged to use caution, allow additional travel time, and avoid the area if possible.

This work is part of an $80 million project to widen U.S. 75 to six lanes and convert the frontage roads to one-way traffic. The project is scheduled to be completed in late 2026, pending weather conditions.

I-30/I-45 ramp closure in Dallas

In Dallas, the westbound I-30 off-ramp to southbound I-45 will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. June 30 through July 2 to accommodate bridge maintenance. Detour signs will guide drivers around the closure. Motorists should expect delays and adjust travel plans accordingly.

According to TxDOT, the routine maintenance work is crucial to preserving the structural integrity of the bridge system in the area.
