Lee Brice and Ashley McBryde will headline this year’s celebration. The night will be capped off with a fireworks show.
HOUSTON — Houston is gearing up for a Fourth of July celebration like no other. Mayor John Whitmire and the city’s Freedom Over Texas sponsors invite everyone to Eleanor Tinsley Park on Buffalo Bayou for a night packed with country music, fireworks and community spirit.
Headlining this year’s event is multi-platinum country star Lee Brice, famous for chart-toppers like “I Don’t Dance,” “Hard to Love,” and “One of Them Girls.” Brice, a Grammy-nominated and award-winning songwriter, has racked up nine No. 1 singles and more than 10 billion streams. When he’s not on stage, he’s busy with his lifestyle brands and spending time with his family.
Opening for Brice is Ashley McBryde, a Grammy-winning powerhouse known for her bold vocals and honest storytelling. McBryde, a Grand Ole Opry member, has earned six Grammy nominations and widespread praise for albums like “Girl Going Nowhere” and “The Devil I Know.” Her duet with Carly Pearce, “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” took home a Grammy and cemented her place among country’s brightest stars.
This year’s Freedom Over Texas is all about making the event more accessible and fun for everyone. The celebration is going cashless for most areas, and after the live music, the night will close with a dazzling fireworks show presented by Thomas J. Henry Law.
Between the main stage performances, families can enjoy the Bud Light Bayou Bash beer garden, cool off in the Dr Pepper Flavor Zone with floats and live music, or let kids run wild in the Red, White & Play Kids Zone, packed with games, face painting, and dance performances. Liberty Park will honor the nation’s military and first responders, with plenty of photo ops and interactive booths.
Tickets are $10 per person, with kids five and under free. For more details or to buy tickets, visit freedomovertexas.org. Want to volunteer? You’ll get an event T-shirt, free parking, and free food and drinks — register at houstonspecialevents.org.
