MoPac express lane, other spots closed this weekend for improvements

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The southbound MoPac Expressway express lane and several main MoPac lanes will be closed throughout the weekend for maintenance and improvements.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) said the express lane will be closed continuously from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. for “ongoing technology toll system improvements to the MoPac corridor.”

CTRMA said three portions of southbound MoPac/Loop 1 will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday through Sunday.

Below is a list of this weekend’s southbound MoPac closures:

Right two lanes between Far West Boulevard and RM 2222

Left two lanes between Howard Lane and Parmer Lane

Entrance ramp of Spicewood Springs and Anderson Lane

Next weekend, Aug. 1 through Aug. 3, CTRMA said there will be several northbound lane closures, including the northbound MoPac express lane.

CTRMA recommends drivers prepare to slow down, plan for extra travel time and use alternate routes, if possible.
