Missing jet skier found in Galveston Bay, Coast Guard confirms

The U.S. Coast Guard recovered a missing jet skier in Galveston Bay, concluding a search that started on Sunday.

GALVESTON, Texas — The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed Monday that the missing jet skier last seen in Galveston Bay has been located and recovered, ending a multi-agency search effort that began Sunday afternoon.

The man was last spotted around 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the Bolivar Ferry on a jet ski. According to the Coast Guard, his white, gray, and orange Sea-Doo, along with his belongings, was found drifting near San Leon around 5:30 p.m.

The missing individual was reportedly wearing blue shorts and a white and green fishing shirt at the time of his disappearance.

Officials did not release the man’s name or further details about the recovery.

In a statement, Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston thanked partner agencies and the public for assisting in the search and urged everyone to prioritize water safety.

“Please remember to always wear a life jacket and use your engine kill switch,” the agency said.
