HOUSTON — The MICHELIN Guide Texas is coming back to Houston this fall — and it’s bringing culinary prestige with it. “Last year marked a milestone for the Texas restaurant industry, and we’re excited to continue celebrating the state’s exceptional culinary talent at this year’s ceremony,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide.
A look back at the inaugural Texas list in 2024
The first-ever Texas edition debuted in November 2024 at Houston’s 713 Music Hall, honoring 117 restaurants across the state. Fifteen received one MICHELIN Star, including six in the Houston area:
- BCN Taste & Tradition (Houston)
- CorkScrew BBQ (Spring)
- Le Jardinier (Houston)
- March (Houston)
- Musaafer (Houston)
- Tatemó (Houston)
Two Austin restaurants — Dai Due and Emmer & Rye — earned the MICHELIN Green Star for sustainable gastronomy.
The Bib Gourmand list, which spotlights great food at great value, included 17 Houston-area favorites such as Blood Bros BBQ, Nancy’s Hustle, Pinkerton’s BBQ, Truth BBQ, and Street to Kitchen.
Special awards in 2024 included the Sommelier Award for Steven McDonald of Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Houston.
What’s next
This year’s invite-only event will once again reveal the inspectors’ top picks, chosen through anonymous visits and judged on five key criteria — from product quality to consistency over time.
The MICHELIN Guide Texas covers 26 types of cuisine and recognizes restaurants not only for culinary excellence but also for value, sustainability, and hospitality.
