'Love Is Blind' opens casting applications in Austin, 5 other cities

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin singles, are you TV ready?

Kinetic Content, the production company behind reality shows like “Love Is Blind,” “Married At First Sight,” “The Ultimatum,” and many others, announced on Tuesday that its casting team for “Love Is Blind” is “actively accepting applications in five new cities,” including Austin.

“Love Is Blind” is a “social experiment where single men and women look for love and get engaged, all before meeting in person,” according to its Netflix description.

Contestants get to know each other through a series of dates in “pods,” where they can speak to one another without seeing each other.

The show has already filmed in Texas twice. Season 3 followed singles from Dallas, and Season 5 featured a group of singles in Houston.

Now, it seems to be expanding to the Capitol City itself.

Kinetic Content said it was accepting applications in Austin, Philadelphia, St. Louis, New Orleans and Charleston, but the post did not specify which city would be featured in the next season.

Those interested in applying can do so online. The application will take potential cast members through a series of acknowledgments before they can proceed to the application itself. The application has a series of more than 60 questions about the applicant’s future goals, dating life, cultural traditions, preferences in a partner and more.

Austin is no stranger to reality shows. The city has previously served as the setting for shows “Twentysomethings,” “The Ultimatum,” “The Real World: Austin,” “Married at First Sight,” and has been featured in others, like “Queer Eye.”
