The ramp off the North Loop to the northbound lanes of the North Freeway was shut down on Thursday during rush hour.
HOUSTON — Drivers heading eastbound on the North Loop toward I-45 are dealing with major delays after an 18-wheeler lost its cargo.
Emergency crews have shut down the ramp that connects the eastbound North Loop to I-45, affecting both sides of the ramp. All traffic must continue on the North Loop or exit at Irvington to circle back around. Another option is to head southbound on I-45 and make a U-turn.
at 5 p.m., there was a 20-minute delay from TC Jester, with the right lanes crawling toward the closure. Officials suggest using Crosstimbers or Cavalcade as alternate routes to access I-45 and avoid the backup.
This closure is expected to last for a while. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
