From alt-rock to throwback country to progressive metal, SA is playing host to some interesting live music bills this week. Let’s run ’em down.

Lauren Lakis
There’s seemingly nothing Lauren Lakis can’t do. She’s not just a musician but also an actress on the side. Her music oozes alt-rock mixed with shoegaze and goth sensibilities. In a different world, Lakis’ album Deadlights could have made the perfect soundtrack to one of those quirky ’90s coming-of-age movies with a “weird” girl at its center. $14.29, 8 p.m., Stable Hall, 307 Pearl Parkway, (210) 427-7464, stablehall.com. — Brianna Espinoza

Ramona and the Holy Smokes
Ramona and the Holy Smokes craft classic throwback country. It’s well-played, well-sung and well-written. The band is based in Virginia but has South Texas roots, and music site Wide Open Country recently named singer Ramona Martinez one of the “15 Latino artists shaping country music.” It’s refreshing to hear C&W sounds reframed from a Latina perspective. $10, 10 p.m. The Lonesome Rose, 2114 N. King’s X
Missouri-born rock trio King’s X has been around since 1979, and after some early turnover, has maintained its original lineup. Known for helping pioneer progressive metal in the late ’80s, the trio developed a sound rooted in upbeat stoner rock but with funk, gospel and other influences. Though King’s X last dropped an album in 2022, the group is reportedly in the process of creating a new record that leans in on its prog tendencies. $36.25-$74, 8 p.m., The Rock Box, 1223 E. Lloronas, Honey Bunny, Cormae
Self-described purveyors of “aggressive disco punk,” Lloronas consist of an all-female lineup straight from San Antonio. The group’s songs encompass lyrics about being from the South Side, and the members deliver Dead Kennedys-esque musical grooves with true punk ferocity. Local indie-rock heroes Honey Bunny and Austin’s Cormae will provide support. $10, 9 p.m., The Lonesome Rose, 2114 N. St. Mary’s St., (210) 455-0233, thelonesomerose.com. — BE
