More than 1,500 new students have enrolled in Klein ISD ahead of the 2025 school year, with some families moving in from other cities.
KLEIN, Texas — With just over two weeks to go before the first day of school, Klein ISD is experiencing a major spike in enrollment — and families are traveling from all over to be part of it.
District leaders say the interest is so high that they hosted a two-day mega-enrollment event to accommodate the influx of new students. The results? More than 1,500 new students enrolled, a 15% increase over last year’s numbers.
That pushes total enrollment to over 53,000 students, solidifying Klein ISD’s standing as the 14th largest school district in Texas.
Why Klein ISD?
Many of the families enrolling don’t even live in the district — at least not yet. So what’s drawing them in?
Klein ISD officials point to several key factors:
- Smooth in-person enrollment process
- High academic standards and early access to AP/IB courses
- Strong athletics and club offerings
- Appealing quality of life in the Klein area
For Fouzia Khan, who just relocated from Temple, Texas, it was the diversity of the district that made the difference.
“Yeah, we actually love the diversity here,” Khan said. “That’s one of the things we looked at to make sure there’s people of all kinds, uh, you know, reflecting real life, a real world.”
Her daughter, Noor Arif, was excited about the academic opportunities.
“Um, I was looking forward to being able to take a lot more advanced classes earlier,” Arif said. “Because in Temple, you have to wait till junior year to take AP or IB, and they have a really cool athletics program, and they also have a lot more clubs than Temple did.”
Enrollment still open
Although the mega-enrollment event has wrapped up, Klein ISD is still accepting new students online through its district website.
School officials say the in-person events have been a game-changer, making the process faster and more accessible for families seeking a new start.
