Jesus Guerrero’s cause of death revealed

The Los Angeles County medical examiner has released the cause of death of celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. — The Los Angeles County medical examiner has released the cause of death of a Houston-born celebrity hairstylist who unexpectedly passed away earlier this year.

Jesus Guerrero was 34 years old when the medical examiner said he died of a form of pneumonia called pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia and a fungal infection called disseminated cryptococcus neoformans

The National Institutes of Health said that pneumocystosis is believed to be airborne transmitted from person to person. The health institute said most cryptococcus exposure comes from soil and bird droppings.

NIH said both most commonly affect people who are immunocompromised. The medical examiner listed a secondary cause of death as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS.

Guerrero’s family announced his death in February. His sister said his death “came very suddenly and unexpectedly. She created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family in the wake of his death. It raised $96,000 before the organizer stopped accepting new donations.

Guerrero was born and raised by immigrant parents in Houston.

“Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top,” Gris Guerrero, Jesus’ younger sister, said.

The stylist had reportedly become good friends with Kylie Jenner after they started working together in 2019. According to reports, Jenner was helping the family with costs related to Guerrero’s funeral.

Guerrero also worked with Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Demi Moore and other celebrities. His Instagram account was full of photos of stars he styled all over the world. The Houston native had more than 600,000 followers.
