Irving standoff: Armed suspect fired at SWAT officials, police say

SWAT officials were attempting to serve a warrant when the suspect fired at them, police said. No injuries have been reported.

IRVING, Texas — An armed suspect allegedly shot at SWAT officials attempting to serve a warrant in North Texas Wednesday, leading to a standoff, police said.

The North Texas Metro SWAT team was serving a narcotics warrant in the 2700 block of Syracuse Drive in Irving on Wednesday morning at the request of the Carrollton Police Department when the suspect fired at SWAT officials, police said in a statement. 

The Carrollton Police Department (CPD) described the situation as “a barricaded subject involving an armed suspect,” and said there have been no injuries reported as of around 2:30 p.m. 

Irving police were called to assist, CPD said. 

No other details were immediately available.

WFAA has a crew headed to the scene working to gather information.
