Iconic Jolly Jack statue at San Antonio-based Sea Island's original restaurant removed for repairs

Work crews on Tuesday took down the iconic Jolly Jack statue outside the original Sea Island Shrimp House location near North Star Mall to give it much-needed repairs, the San Antonio-based seafood chain said in a Facebook post. The 10-foot-tall fisherman in a striped shirt has greeted guests at the dining spot for the past 60 years. The mascot will be reinforced with fiberglass and undergo restoration work at the hands of manufacturing and design company Christopher Stuart Cast Stone.
