ICE arrested over 1,300 migrants in Houston in June for alleged illegal entry, with many having prior criminal charges or convictions.
HOUSTON — New figures released this morning reveal that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested over 1,300 migrants in the Houston area in June alone.
According to ICE, 1,361 people living in the Houston region were taken into custody last month after allegedly entering the U.S. illegally.
ICE says many of those arrested either have prior criminal charges or past convictions.
Here’s a breakdown of the alleged criminal backgrounds provided by ICE:
- 32 child predators
- 9 murderers
- 16 gang or cartel members
- A 56-year-old man convicted for hijacking an airplane
- Adermis Wilson-Gonzalez, who hijacked a plane from Cuba to Florida in 2003, according to ICE.
- Arnulfo Cervantes, described as a former Mexican gang member. ICE says Cervantes has been convicted twice for trafficking and once for attempted murder. He has reportedly re-entered the U.S. illegally six times.
- Luis Vasquez-Estolano, who ICE says has been deported six times and convicted of both homicide and aggravated robbery.
All of these individuals, along with hundreds of others, were arrested across the Houston area during June as part of ICE’s latest enforcement efforts.
