WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — A military parade to celebrate the U.S. Army has been scheduled to roll through Washington, D.C. on Saturday, June 14, and if you want to watch what’s going on from the comfort of your living room, WFAA+ has you covered.
Coverage will begin on WFAA+ starting at 5 p.m., when our sister station WUSA starts its localize coverage of the event. Then, starting at 5:30 p.m., we’ll host a second stream from our partners at ABC News Live, who’ll provide a national and even international context to the festivities.
With a reported price tag of $45 million, the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Army Grand Military Parade procession will feature 50 aircraft, 34 horses, two mules, one dog and 6,600 soldiers from every Army division, as well as 28 M1 Abrams battle tanks.
The event also falls on Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.
After a day long schedule of celebratory events, the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a parade route scheduled to make its way down Constitution Avenue for eight blocks, between 15th and 23rd streets.
It’s the first time since 1991 that a military parade of this scope will enter the District of Columbia. President George H.W. Bush initiated that parade to celebrate the end of the Gulf War, which the U.S. fought against Iraq.
