Houston robbery: Suspect shoots clerk before taking cash

According to police, when the the store clerk didn’t react fast enough, the suspect opened fire.

HOUSTON — Houston police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man accused of shooting a store clerk during an robbery in southeast Houston earlier this year.

Investigators said the robbery happened around 4:25 a.m. on April 25 at a convenience store on Belfort near Mykawa. Police said the suspect walked into the store armed with a small revolver and demanded the clerk open the secure area.

When the clerk didn’t act quickly, police say the suspect shot him in the leg through the doorknob opening.

The suspect then forced his way inside, took cash from the register and took off.

The suspect is between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, weighing 225 to 250 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, blue pants with a white stripe down the side, a black mask, black gloves and white shoes, possibly Nike Jordan brand.
