Houston police investigating shooting on Cinnamon Lane near Beechnut

Houston Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting, where officers shot an armed suspect, who was then hospitalized. No officers were injured.

HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Friday morning in southwest Houston and left a teenage suspect hospitalized.

It happened just before dawn at an apartment complex on Cinnamon Lane, just south of Beechnut Street.

According to HPD, officers were responding to a call at the complex when three people ran from the scene. Officers were able to catch up with them, and one of the individuals, described as a young male, possibly a minor, was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach. A rifle was also found nearby, police said.

The teen was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Police said two HPD officers opened fire during the incident, but it remains unclear whether they are the ones who struck the teen. That’s something investigators are still working to determine.

A man and a woman were also arrested at the scene. Their possible involvement in the shooting is still under investigation.

This is a developing story. We will update it as we learn more.
