In Houston, bikers with BACA ride to protect child abuse survivors—offering strength, safety, and healing for kids who need it most.
HOUSTON — In Houston, a group of bikers is rewriting the stereotype — trading the tough image for something far more powerful: protection.
They call themselves BACA — Bikers Against Child Abuse — and their mission is clear: to stand up for children who’ve suffered abuse and make sure no child feels alone or unsafe again.
“We’re Bikers Against Child Abuse, and somebody’s gotta stand up and do what’s right,” said a rider who goes by Bling Bling. “You can’t leave it to others.”
BACA is a nonprofit that works with professional agencies to support hundreds of children every year across Texas. Members include teachers, attorneys, mechanics, doctors — people from all walks of life who come together on their own time, united against child abuse.
“If they weren’t there, I probably would have felt very isolated,” said Red Thunder, a BACA member who was once a BACA kid. “They were definitely a huge emotional help… and the physical safety aspect of just knowing that like anywhere I am with them, nothing’s going to happen, nobody’s going to get to you.”
The group is known for providing support, presence, and protection to children after trauma. They don’t use their real names and never charge for their services — they just show up, ride together, and help restore a sense of safety and empowerment.
With dozens of chapters in Texas and hundreds around the world, BACA’s reach is wide, but their impact is deeply personal.
“It is deeply fulfilling to see their transformations and being part of their empowerment process,” one rider said.
In the end, the question isn’t just what do you ride for, but what do you ride against. For BACA, the answer is clear.
