HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating after human remains were found in Houston’s Near Northside neighborhood last weekend.

Investigators said it unfolded around 9 a.m. on Saturday on McIntosh Street just off North Main Street near Little White Oak Bayou.

Officers responded to the scene after getting reports that there was a human skull sitting on the ground.

When they got there, they found the skull on top of other items that had been put out for trash.

Witnesses told the officers that a homeless woman had put the skull on the trash pile as she was walking by. Officers found the woman, and she led them to the rest of the remains.

An anthropologist went to the scene and gathered the rest of what’s believed to be human remains. Officials are waiting for autopsy results to find out how the person died.
