San Antonio-based Gusto Group (Toro Kitchen + Bar, Cuishe Cocina Mexicana, Books: A Whiskey Society) has unveiled more details about SeaSpice, its forthcoming bar and restaurant concept on Broadway near the Pearl.

Gusto Group CEO Gerardo de Anda told the Current he’s gearing up for a June opening for SeaSpice, which will be located at the top of the Jefferson Building, 1900 Broadway. The Jefferson also houses dining concepts Nineteen Hyaku and The Newstand.

“I wanted the ambience and menu at SeaSpice to feel like a getaway to the French Riviera. A no-passport-required type of experience, you know?” said de Anda, who first teased the concept to the Current last year .

De Anda hasn’t yet set a grand opening date for the new bar and restaurant. However, he revealed it will offer lunch, happy hour and dinner selections along with brunch on the weekends.

Highlights from the food menu stick to a coastal theme. A raw bar will offer East and West Coast oysters, tiradito, tartare and carpaccio, while the kitchen will serve up small and large seafood towers, ceviches, lobster rolls and a signature SeaSpice bowl. Guests also will be able to order build-your-own coctel Mexicanos with a choice of oysters, shrimp, tuna, lobster or octopus.

“SeaSpice was built around precision and freshness,” de Anda said. “Every detail, from the way the cold bar is set in the morning to the music we play at sunset, is meant to make our guests feel they’ve stepped onto someone’s yacht for the evening.”

Tableside martini service stands out as an appealing prospect on the substantial drink menu. Additionally, Sea Spice will offer an assortment of signature cocktails, including the Midnight in Mykonos, made with mezcal and Nixta corn liqueur, and the Riviera Royale, composed of coconut tequila, Laurent-Perrier champagne and a dash of blood orange.

SeaSpice’s drink menu also will boast an assortment of classic cocktails, zero-proof options and the Gusto Group’s signature carajillos, among other options.

On select nights, the restaurant and bar will feature live DJ sessions from 10 p.m. until close.

“And a beautiful view from Broadway,” de Anda added.
