The reports came in just after 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 23.
Reporters claimed to have heard dozens of shots with one saying they were told to run into the press briefing room.
Multiple news networks report the White House North Lawn was cleared by Secret Service.
The incident reportedly happened near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, which is the intersection just northwest of the White House.
President Donald Trump is said to have been at the White House as of late afternoon on Saturday.
