Ava Moore, 18, was killed Sunday after a woman driving a jet ski ran into her as she was kayaking on Grapevine Lake, officials said.
GRAPEVINE, Texas — Funeral services have been set for Ava Moore, the 18-year-old who was killed after being hit by a jet ski while kayaking on Grapevine Lake over Memorial Day weekend.
Texas Game Wardens and Grapevine police arrested Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez and charged her with a second-degree felony manslaughter charge. The suspect’s bond was set at $500,000, court records showed.
Moore’s funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at The Met Church in Fort Worth. The service will be private, as the family has asked for privacy to grieve the loss of their daughter. According to Grapevine police, full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force at the end of the service.
Moore graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School on May 19 and had accepted an appointment to join the Academy as a member of the Class of 2029. The family shared a photograph of Moore taken on May 19 with WFAA, alongside her brother, after she received her appointment during the United States Air Force Academy Prep Graduation.

“Ava’s loss has been deeply felt throughout our community,” Grapevine police said in a statement. “The Grapevine Police Department remains committed to supporting her family and thanks members of the media for their continued compassion and respect.”
